PARENTS: We reviewed Ch 11 together and went over Ch 12 in class, then did an experiment to see which solutions would conduct electricity. We discussed the homework and the quiz options for our elements' memory work and the students chose to have 2 small quizzes next week instead of one big one.
FOR HOMEWORK
I suggested the boys make all their atomic models over the weekend. Please have the marshmallows, toothpicks, and glue available. They need to make the models described on p. 46, p. 50, & p. 53. This will give us a good idea of the different kinds of bonds between elements. On Monday, Read Lesson 13, take notes, vocab + definitions. Complete the worksheet "Bonding Characteristics" started in class. We will also have a 5pt quiz on 3 more elements: Ba, Barium, Be, Beryllium, Bh, Bohrium. Don't forget to review previous elements. I'll have the take home quizzes graded to return on Tues.
